How to Make a Good Decision in 4 Simple Steps

Yesterday on Instagram, I shared my 'decision-making matrix' - a framework I use to help me make everyday decisions and it BLEW UP, so I thought I'd share it in a little more detail....

Just last week I got a phenomenal opportunity to join a global team of coaches committed to empowering hidden and high potential in an absolutely world-changing organisation. Now, this wasn't part of my strategic plan or vision - albeit it's an incredible opportunity that needed DUE consideration right?!

Whilst I love my intuition and I trust her dearly, I am also a process-driven gal who loves a system. Sure there's the good ole pros and cons list (thanks Mum!) but often that leaves me stumped, so I designed my own decision-making matrix (featured below) that I want to share with you....

Whether it's leaving your current job, accepting a promotion, leaving a long-term relationship, changing gyms, buying a new car, starting your side hustle, choosing a coach or financial adviser - every day we are faced with numerous decisions. And if you're a hidden high potential yourself chances are more opportunities are coming your way (read that again)!

Often we rely on EXTERNAL FACTORS to help us make these decisions, like; what your best friend said, what would be 'expected' of you, your parents/partners opinion/advice, the thing that would upset the least amount of people (helloooo people pleaser), the safest option, the money/paycheque, a little ego boost (aka status/recognition)....whatever it might be!

However, most of these external factors don't lead to very aligned decisions, and can often leave us feeling frustrated, overwhelmed, confused, empty and lost.

Decision-making matrix

So here's a DECISION-MAKING MATRIX (I designed and use every day) to help me make critical decisions in my life, relationships and business....based on much more INTERNAL FACTORS

1. Does it align with my CORE VALUES?

2. What is the IMPACT of this opportunity?

3. What's the COST of the opportunity?

4. Do I have the CAPACITY to show up FULLY for this?

User notes

  • What do we mean by 'impact' - that it aligns with your overall life vision and purpose. My mission is to empower humanity to their highest potential and deepest alignment, so I measure all opportunities against this.

  • There is always a 'cost', even if you can't see it initially. Every time we say yes to something, you are saying no to something else - figure out what that is for you. For me, usually saying yes to new work opportunities (as exciting as they are!) would mean saying no to quality time with my one and only Dalaney Davis. Just need to be aware.

  • The conversation of 'capacity' is a matter of looking at your calendar, your priorities and deciding if you can truly create space for this. And 'fully' means a whole body hell yes vs a spreading yourself too thin kinda vibe.

Tony Robbins once said "the quality of our life comes down to the quality of our decisions". And it's not just the one next life decision you need to be considering, this will be a continual life-long thing!

So, how do you make 'good' decisions?

Because what will be right for you could be the complete opposite for the person sitting next to you/giving you their 'expert' opinion.

We give you the tools and frameworks to fully understand yourself and get super grounded in your decision-making processes. From this place, you can make empowered decisions and move through each day with the CLARITY and CONFIDENCE that you're heading in the right direction (for you that is!).

What's something you know you need to make a decision on? Give this process a go! And of course, feel free to edit/amend this decision-making matrix appropriately for you.

You can also download this frame and save it to your phone - so it's handy in moments you need it most.

I hope you find this as helpful as I did and wishing you all the best with your courageous decision-making to create your unique destiny and dreams!

Bri xx
