How to Live and Lead with Joy—on Impact entrepreneurship, Coaching and Overcoming Cancer with Georgia Robertson

“In the space of 18 months we’d built the business, had COVID, I’d had multiple surgeries, I’d had an IVF cycle, 24 fractions of radiotherapy, and six rounds of chemo.”

Briony speaks to the incredible Georgia Robertson on this episode of the Untapped podcast. Georgia is a stand for what is possible when you give all of yourself to life; she’s a visionary, Founder, Director, and CEO.

Briony and Georgia’s tales start the same, attending the same law school and beginning a career in corporate law, only to realise that this wasn’t what truly lit them up.

In this story Briony leaves law to start Untapped and…you know the rest.

But in this version, Georgia leaves to start the New Zealand branch of Humanitix, a not-for-profit digital ticketing platform.

Going from a structured, clear path in corporate law, Georgia found herself in a new space creating a rulebook from scratch. One of the very first skills she learns is sales, a skill she insists every entrepreneur needs to hone.

“You realise that anyone who's ever done anything meaningful, has learned sales as a skill. It's actually one of the most important skills that you could ever have in business is the ability to tell a story and bring people along the journey.”

During her time as CEO of Humanitix—which included periods of extended COVID lockdown—she found out she had cancer. An unexpected diagnosis only 10 hours after her grandfather had died of cancer.

Through this season in Georgia’s life, her work became even more of a sacred space. She found strength through the support of her internal and external toolkits, which we discussed at length in the poddy.

In this episode, nothing is off limits, as Georgia deep dives into the skills she has utilised on her journey, what she has learnt being on the other side of cancer, returning to work, and launching exciting new projects in the digital space.

A key learning?

No one does this alone.
