How to Build Confidence Through Shadow Work
Have you ever heard, “Fake it till you make it?”
Please, don’t do that.
The harsh truth is it’s not going to fix any underlying feelings of self-doubt, self-belief, and low self-trust.
The latest episode of the Untapped podcast is all about cultivating REAL core confidence, confidence that can transcend beyond work presentations and into every area of your life.
The key?
Shadow work.
Carl Jung once said, “The shadow is the person you would rather not be.”
This is your repressed self. The parts of yourself you disown. The lazy, bossy, selfish parts you would rather not know.
Shadow work is bringing these parts of yourself to the surface and integrating them into how you show up in the world.
I hear you asking, “Why in the world would I do that??”
Because whatever you don’t own now, will own you in the future.
Because no matter how long you spend pushing these parts down, people-pleasing, bending over backwards to make others happy, these niggly feelings always make their way to the surface.
So let’s integrate them in a healthy way.
Shadow work and confidence are intertwined, and you cannot have the full expression of one, without the other.
The more shadow work we do, the more confidence we build, and the more dynamic we can be in our responses to the world.
We have all parts of us integrated whenever we need to grab them and utilise them—
Need to be lazy so you can rest and recover? Give yourself the FULL permission to do this guilt-free.
Need to exercise discernment and judgement, so you don’t get scammed? Go right ahead!
Need to say no to your Manager because you can’t stay late at work for another night this week? It’s okay to say no, legend.
